Background

In recent decades, the view of organisations on their employees has shifted from seeing them purely as a production factor to treating them as important human capital of the firm. This shift brings the management of workplaces in the fore, starting from aligning workplace design with organisational strategy and employee needs and preferences, through effective alternative workplace strategies to managing the workspace and workplace services efficiently. This increasing complexity requires that workplace managers and indeed, different organisational stakeholders concerned by the workplace have a comprehensive knowledge from design to workspace management and evaluation and speak a common language to bring down organisational silos.

Objective

The objective of the Strategic Partnership for the Establishment of an Innovative Approach in Workplace Management Education, „SPACE” project is to create a learning resource, which provides a comprehensive view of workplace design and management, strating from strategy, through design to operation and measurement. The aim is to help any interested student or professional to gain an understanding of the complexity and elements of workplace design and management and thus facilitate the dialogue and cooperation between different disciplines and organisational areas to create better workplaces.

The project started in September 2018 and will finish in February 2021.
